Amazon.com has agreed to pay $1.5 billion to settle allegations that the company used "dark patterns" to trick tens of millions of consumers into enrolling in Prime subscriptions without their informed consent and intentionally complicated the cancellation process. Eligible customers can receive cash payments.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for benefits if you signed up for Amazon Prime in the U.S. between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and met specific usage or cancellation criteria.

You signed up for Amazon Prime in the United States between 6/23/2019 and 6/23/2025

You unintentionally enrolled through a challenged enrollment method

You tried to cancel your Prime membership through the online cancellation process from 6/23/2019 to 6/23/2025 and were unable to do so

You used less than ten Prime benefits (ex. delivery, shopping, streaming, reading etc.) during any 12-month period of enrollment

You have not already received an automatic payment

Note: The "Challenged Enrollment Flows" are: Universal Prime Decision Page (UPDP), Shipping Option Select Page (SOSP), Prime Video enrollment flow, and Single Page Checkout (SPC). To receive either an Automatic Payment or a Claims Process Payment, you will not need to determine whether or not you signed up through a Challenged Enrollment Flow. That analysis is being completed for you.
